How does the solar power system generate electricity?

2021-09-02

Solar energy is used more and more widely in modern society. So, how does sunlight convert into electricity? The main principle of solar power generation is to generate direct current from solar modules based on the photovoltaic effect. If it is a grid-connected system, the electric energy is directly integrated into the grid through a grid-connected inverter; if it is an off-grid system, the battery and load are charged and discharged through the solar controller.
 Photovoltaic effect
The effect of a beam of light on a semiconductor is quite different from that on a metal or insulator. Since there are so many free electrons in metals, the change in electrical conductivity caused by light is completely negligible. The insulator still fails to excite more electrons to participate in conduction at very high temperatures. The semiconductor with conductivity between metal and insulator has much less binding force on electrons in the body than insulators. The photon energy of visible light can excite it from the binding to the free conductive state. This is the photoelectric effect of semiconductors. When an electric field exists in a local area of a semiconductor, photo-generated carriers will accumulate, which is very different from when there is no electric field. The two sides of the electric field will generate photoelectric voltage due to the accumulation of electric charges. This is the photovoltaic effect, referred to as the photovoltaic effect.
Classification of solar systems
   Grid-connected solar power system
  1, single-phase grid-connected power generation system
  2, three-phase grid-connected power generation system
    Off-grid solar power system
  1, DC solar power system
  2, AC solar power system
3, AC and DC solar power system
Off-grid and grid-connected hybrid solar power generation system
After having a preliminary understanding of solar energy systems, you can understand which type of photovoltaic system you need.
